Gaza: Morocco Reiterates Call for Immediate Halt to Israeli Attacks and Resumption of Negotiations

Morocco reiterated on Monday before the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC) in Geneva its call for an immediate end to Israeli attacks in Gaza and for the resumption of negotiations aimed at establishing lasting peace in the Middle East.

Speaking on behalf of Morocco during the general debate under agenda item 7, devoted to the human rights situation in Palestine and other occupied Arab territories, Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva, Ambassador Omar Zniber, urged the opening of all crossings into the Gaza Strip to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid and ensure the safe return of displaced civilians to their homes.

Zniber recalled that His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in his capacity as Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, had ordered the establishment of a humanitarian airlift to Gaza. This operation enabled the delivery of nearly 300 tons of aid (food, medicine, and relief supplies) via unprecedented routes, with the aim of easing the suffering of the civilian population.

He further stressed Morocco’s urgent appeal to put an end to Israeli actions in the West Bank, particularly home demolitions, forced evictions, and assaults on the city of Al-Quds. He called for respect of the historic 1967 status quo governing Islamic and Christian holy sites in the city.

The ambassador reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to preserving the central role of UNRWA, as well as that of other Palestinian institutions tasked with providing humanitarian assistance.

He also welcomed the growing international momentum in favor of recognizing the State of Palestine, noting that this trend reflects increasing support for the two-state solution, considered the most rational and realistic path to ending the cycle of violence.
