
The Royal Family and the entire Moroccan people celebrate, on Monday, the birthday of HRH Princess Lalla Asmaa, an occasion to highlight the various actions of Her Royal Highness in the social field and her constant and unwavering commitment to the improvement of the situation of children with special needs, mainly hearing and speech impaired children.
A princess with a big heart, HRH Princess Lalla Asmaa has been involved in social activism from a young age, constantly looking after the well-being of hearing and speech impaired children and undertaking initiatives that contribute to their integration into the social fabric as full-fledged citizens.
In her capacity as President of the Lalla Asmaa Foundation, Her Royal Highness is concerned about this vulnerable category, surrounding it with her solicitude and providing invaluable support to this institution, a pioneer in the care of hearing and speech impaired children.
For several decades, the Foundation has been providing specialized education, based on the national primary and secondary school curriculum, to beneficiaries who are entitled to technical support, including digital hearing aids, cochlear implants, and electronic transmission systems that help them adapt and break out of their isolation.
The first class of baccalaureate graduates, from the Foundation, had been able to benefit, from the start of the 2018 academic year, from the partnership agreements signed with the Faculty of Sciences of Rabat and the Euro-Mediterranean University of Fez, which made it possible to broaden the fields of access to higher education to these students and to all those who will follow them.
For its part, the vocational training does not remain in rest. Indeed, training in embroidery, weaving, hairdressing and plastic arts are provided by the institution that takes the challenge of introducing its students to specialties integrated into the centers of vocational training, under the sector of Crafts.
The unwavering support that HRH Princess Lalla Asmaa never ceases to show towards hearing and speech impaired children is a sign of the constant adhesion of Her Royal Highness to the various initiatives of social and charitable nature.
This year was also marked by several activities by Her Royal Highness. Thus, on July 27, HRH Princess Lalla Asmaa, received, at the Rabat-Salé Airport, the First Lady of the Republic of El Salvador, Gabriela Rodriguez De Bukele, who was on a working visit to Morocco.
On the next day, Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Asmaa, President of the Lalla Asmaa Foundation, and the First Lady of the Republic of El Salvador, Gabriela Rodriguez De Bukele, paid a visit to the Foundation’s headquarters. During the same day, Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Asmaa chaired, at the Royal Guests Palace in Rabat, a luncheon offered by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in honor of Gabriela Rodríguez De Bukele.
On June 14, Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Asmaa, chaired, at the head office of the Lalla Asmaa Foundation in Rabat, the graduation ceremony of the 2024-2025 school year of the Foundation.
Similarly, on May 2, Her Royal Highness visited Washington's Gallaudet University, the only institution worldwide solely dedicated to the education of the deaf and hard of hearing from early childhood up to PhD level.
On this occasion, HRH Princess Lalla Asmaa chaired the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Gallaudet University and the Lalla Asmaa Foundation, which reflects Her Royal Highness's firm and steadfast commitment to improving the livelihoods of deaf and hard-of-hearing children in Morocco, through providing an educational environment that respects their uniqueness, while guaranteeing their full integration into society.
On February 20, Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Asmaa, chaired the launch ceremony of the third edition of the “United, We Hear Each Other Better” program at the Hospital of Specialties of the Ibn Sina University Hospital in Rabat.
On October 29, 2024, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, accompanied by HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid and TRH Princesses Lalla Khadija, Lalla Meryem, Lalla Asmaa and Lalla Hasnaa, offered, at the Royal Palace in Rabat, an official diner in honor of the President of the French Republic, H.E. Mr. Emmanuel Macron and his spouse Ms. Brigitte Macron.
Cultural and sporting activities are also at the heart of the concerns of Her Royal Highness who is also the Honorary President of the Society for the Protection of Animals and Nature.
With the celebration of the birthday of HRH Princess Lalla Asmaa, the Moroccan people pay tribute to a strongly committed Princess who, by her great kindness and her known and recognized humanism, has forever marked the social action for the benefit of hearing impaired children.
