In execution of the High Royal Instructions, the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of the National Defense Administration, Abdeltif Loudyi, received on Monday in Rabat the Minister of Defense of the Republic of India, Rajnath Singh, who was accompanied by a high-level delegation on a working visit to Morocco.
This visit forms part of the strengthening and diversification of bilateral cooperation between both countries. On this occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed in the field of defense, in the presence of Lieutenant General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces and Commander of the South Zone, and Lieutenant General Mohamed Haramou, Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie, says a statement from the Administration.
The MoU covers cooperation in the fields of training, exercises and drills, cybersecurity and cyber defense, defense industry, military health, as well as the exchange of experience and expertise in various areas of common interest. It also involves the establishment of a joint mechanism for monitoring and coordinating cooperation activities agreed upon by both parties.
On this occasion, the two ministers reviewed the historic relations of friendship between Morocco and India, which have gained new momentum since the historic visit of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God glorify Him, to India in 2015 and His meeting with His Excellency Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
They also highlighted the high priority attached to the bilateral partnership, discussed regional issues, and explored avenues to strengthen defense cooperation, particularly in the defense industry, the statement noted.
The meeting was also an opportunity to highlight the various South-South cooperation and regional integration initiatives launched under the leadership of His Majesty the King, which have made Morocco a significant player for stability and an exporter of peace and security to neighboring countries.
In this context, the two ministers stressed the importance of forging strategic partnerships between Morocco and India within the framework of South-South cooperation that benefits the development of both countries and of African nations.
At the conclusion of this meeting, the two officials expressed their shared determination to further strengthen these ties reflecting the bonds of friendship, trust, and mutual respect that unite the two countries, the statement concluded.
