The social and solidarity economy and the handicrafts sector play a major role in preserving and promoting local heritage, said Wednesday in Ouarzazate the Secretary of State in charge of Handicrafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy, Lahcen Essaadi.
Speaking at the opening of the 2nd Regional Fair of the Social and Solidarity Economy (September 17–22), Essaadi noted that the social and solidarity economy contributes to the protection and transmission of local heritage to future generations, as well as to improving local development indicators and living conditions, particularly for women and youth.
In this regard, the official highlighted programs and initiatives that provide support and guidance for beneficiaries in coordination with national and international partners, including MOAZARA, Tahfiz Niswa, Lalla Al Moutaaouina and Al Jil Al Moutadamin.
He further noted that the Fair enables cooperatives to showcase and market their products while promoting handicrafts, agricultural goods, and local products. He added that the event features a series of training sessions and workshops scheduled throughout its six-day run, offering beneficiaries an opportunity to strengthen their capacities, particularly in investment and marketing.
The 2nd edition of the Regional Fair of the Social and Solidarity Economy hosts 320 exhibitors representing cooperatives, economic interest groups, and production associations, in addition to 15 stands reserved for institutional partners.
