Morocco will officially launch next week the Digital for Sustainable Development (D4SD), aimed at connecting the Arab-African region to the global digital economy, Minister Delegate for Digital Transition Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni announced on Saturday.
This landmark partnership with the UNDP, set to be unveiled at the upcoming 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York, positions Morocco as a digital hub at the intersection of Africa and the Arab world, fostering economic growth and enhancing public services.
El Fallah Seghrouchni addressed the 10th Geopolitical Meetings in Trouville-Sur-Mer, in north-western France, where she emphasized the growing significance of digital transformation for Morocco’s future.
The D4SD initiative seeks to drive economic development and enhance public services, ultimately improving governance and accessibility for citizens across the country.
According to the government official, Morocco's ambition to become a regional hub is centered around supporting start-ups, advancing offshoring, and nurturing high-potential sectors such as AI, cybersecurity, and e-health.
She also outlined the goal of creating over 270,000 jobs by 2030, emphasizing that this ambitious target "requires a concerted effort to develop local talent." To achieve this, the Kingdom has placed a strong focus on youth training, with plans to equip 100,000 young people annually with essential digital skills.
